Sorry for speaking english... Can you tell me the improvements of this FW?

- it is very faster in the menu
- by sending a sms the ef81 is selecting now the mobile number (not the home number like FW27)

--> so it cant be bad to update
BUT plz dont use grafikpatches or so on. Because they are only for FW27/40
there are any problems by some users here with this patches and FW48

Is it better than SVN40?Of course, it is much better than FW40, the menu-speed has been increased enormously and there have been several BT-improvements and many, many bugfixes...

BUT a a major drawback it looks like you can not really use Java apps / games that access the internet. You have to accept every single request and you can not set it to 'only ask once'...

As of yet, I couldn't finish any BT-transmission. I tried to transmit several files from my ef81 to a Motorola RazrV3, each time the file transfer using Bluetooth stopped suddenly and my ef81 just shut off.

Looks like BQS improved the BT-stack just a little too much...

Unfortunately nobody in the free community seems to know how to sign the midlets in a proper way... at least the knowledge is not yet there.

There ARE certificates in the filesystem. Maybe they can be used to sign them? Is there a tool to sign the midlets besides Smelter?

Let's just hope that BQS reads that.

Hello

Im looking for new firmware for my EF81 and it seems that latest one is .48

Could I ask one of you guys to PM me with download link and instructions how to update my phone.

I am currently using ver 39 with T-Mobile brand. Slow menu is killing me.

Also I noticed that when someone is calling me while talking to someone else ring is beeping all the time, not only the first time. These beeps are canceling sound from original conversation and I have to manually Reject the call if I want to continue original call. I've bever had Siemens phone before and my latest Nokia was programed to make beep only the first time and then to go silenced so that I dont have to reject the call

OMG

I am so stupid.

I upgraded my EF81 with 48 software and now my contacts are gone. I was thinking that the upgrading software will backup my data. Now I lost everything....is there any way to retrieve lost contacts....i was using PMP software but it seems that it saved only first couple of contacts (letter A)...everything else is lost

is there any help for a full like me?

Actually i did, and not only once but couple of times and now I can only retrive first couple of contacts from mS outlook (names starting with "A" and only 2 names with "B"). All other contacts are simply vanished. They are not listed in MS Outlook neither they were sync'ed with my EF81.

I got this phone 5 days ago. Is excellent, but a problem appeared. The phone gets very weak signal and can not speak for example inside building. Is it the problem with this one or a common problem for that model??:(

Please give me an answer, if the new software supports Polish language and T9 too.: I have downloaded the latest software (48 ) and i'm not sure if it has all languages - I'm from Poland.

Well, I had a weak signal once when i was in an hotel. It turned out my handy was still in UMTS mode but there were no strong UMTS antennas nearby, so I changed it to "GSM only" modus. I believe the signal problem depends also on the available antennas in the neighbourhood.

Firmware 48 is officially released in Germany and everybody can go to an update service partner. But unfortunately this firmware doesn't contain input language polish, only english, spanish, greek, italian, ..

I would suggest you to go to the next Benq Siemens update service partner to discuss the signal problem and also receive the latest firmware.

I know the UMTS has now strong antennas, anyway in the GSM mode the phone losts the signal in places where other phones have max signal (my sx1, SE 750). I think the problem is with only with this one.

What are the differences between this versions? Do you have try all this version?

But it could be, if your version was branded. That it is impossible to update.

Updater checks some Info...

Be warned. The Update Delete all your Pics, SMS, MMS... Backup with Bitpim from www.bitpim.org before u try something.

The Update program checks (verify) the Version (variant)...

It is impossible to take the "wrong" version.

How do you define 'don't work'?
They will work on unbranded mobiles.
You have a TIM branded EF81, so you have to wait for a TIM Version of FW48 :(

First I wanna say HI and thanks for all to all forum modopo... this is my first post! :) I live in Italy but I bought in Germany my ef81 and it's a unbranded ef81. My original firmware was the svn23 xx-International-LG01 that I have upgraded to no official svn48 de-BRDHandel-std. Now I'd like upgrade the firmware to official svn48 xx-international-LG01 but during the installation I receive always the error message wrong version software. Has someone any idea if and how I can go back to the international version? Thanks and sorry for my english!:-D

You selected the correct Update Version. With BRD Retail, you already have the languages Italian, French and English, ... No need to chance the Version!

But If you really need LG01, you have to go to your Update Service Partner. You will not be able to change the Version yourself.

hi i'm writing in this forum for first time and i'm wondering what is the diffrence between international LG04 and LG01? My SVN is 23 and its very very old! If i download and install FW 48 is there any danger for my software and will i be able to destroy the old one without installing the new one ?:roll:

Hello, I downloaded the new FW48 version LG01, LG04, and Russsian version, and at aney case during instalation DCA-140 cabel I got the massage you have downloaded wrong .... version. At the service center they told me the problem is in cable. Did you tried to instal the new FW 48 via USB cabel DCA-140. The service center told me to use the DCA-100 cabel. Is it really the problem of cabel or a software.
Is it posiible to instal nwe software via MPM software and if so please write how to do it.

This is totally wrong: No cable problem!

The official Selfupdates are only for Retailversions of EF81.

If u have an Operator Branding:
TIM
T-Mobile
.
.
.
.

U can try only 3GSwupFU, this is not downloadable on BQS. And kills all Brandings and (private Data). Maybe u lost then Warranty.
But this works. :up:

You didn't reported the Variant Name. You can check it yourself on the screenshots.

Like adfree mentioned it, you can change the Variant only if you use the "super software" 3G... or if you go to your Service Provider. He may will have to send your mobile phone to the factory to change the Variant.

I think I have unbranded phone Ef81, bought from no any GSM operator
though I have no problem with english I would prefer to have the FW48 in Polish on my phone.
Now I'm stupid which version of official FW try to install, there is no LG03 version, there is the the russian one, is it the same?
Accord. to the groups Adfree reported is the same group. Should I use the russian version with the or can only use the de-BRDHandel-std_48_0113 version with swup only?

hi there i don't want to risk doing the software by myself because i don't dare to even change the grafikpatch.. I would like to send it to service centre in my place but do they charge me for doing so?

btw,i have deleted the preset video using bitpim but the file is still in my phone!can anyone help me on this ? because im scared that after i deleted the preset video, i will have errors in updating the firmware. Thank you
