Hello,

I was wondering if some can help me, I am a newbie here, but it seens that other people are having the same problem.

My EL71 just went of and doesn't power on, I just get a bip, everytime I try, at the beginning I thought it was the battery, but is not, already test the voltage and an is full, I guess there is a problem with the software or at least I hope so, I already tried taking out the battery for some hours even days and see if I can somehow reset the phone but nothing.

Does any one know how to solve this problem, there is a buch of people out there with same issue but all of them like me newbies :(

Please help

You probably need a new battery. But before purchasing a new battery, go to your service point and use a fully charged battery to see, if you can power on your phone.

This looks like the battery lost too much capacity. It still shows voltage, but this doesn't say anything about capacity.

For example, My EF81 has 3,7 V printed on battery. But If I measure 2,35 V, then this battery isn't chargable. A Li Ion battery cannot be charged if it has only 10% capacity left. The limit is about 20%. Be aware, this is a internal capacity which will be shown as 0% capacity on the mobile display.

The li ion battery has a build-in security controller, but you can loose internal capacity if you try to power on a mobile phone repeatedly and ignoring the "battery low warning". Each time, the battery will lose a critical amount of internal charge capacity.

Also the battery will also loose capacity if the contacts are short-circuited.

Thanks for the fast answer,

since I got the mobile phone in ebay, I guess will try to measure the voltage from the battery again using a voltimeter, if it doesn't work, I will try to power up the mobile phone with an external voltage supply. But I don't get it,why is not working even with I plugged to the power supply or charger ... mmm

There is 3 terminals at the battery one positive, one negative, and one in the middle, do you have any idea what is the one in the middle for?

-thanks

Oh, ebay is good for surprises - sometimes they sell things that doesnt work any more...

The only reasonable way you can do is to check your mobile phone with another battery at a service point or colleague.

If the battery has too low capacity or voltage, it cannot be charged any more. See wikipedia for "deep discharge" - it's almost number one cause why battery cannot be charged any more: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Li_ion

A stand-alone Li-ion cell must never be discharged below a certain voltage to avoid irreversible damage. Therefore all systems involving Li-ion batteries are equipped with a circuit that shuts down the system when the battery is discharged below the predefined threshold.[7] It should thus be impossible to "deep discharge" the battery in a properly designed system during normal use. This is also one of the reasons Li-ion cells are rarely sold as such to consumers, but only as finished batteries designed to fit a particular system.
When the voltage monitoring circuit is built inside the battery (a so-called "smart" battery) rather than the equipment, it continuously draws a small current from the battery even when the battery is not in use; furthermore, the battery must not be stored fully discharged for prolonged periods of time, to avoid damage due to deep discharge.

Of course a specialist can "electro shock" using 200 volt for a short period - but it will only diminish the total capacity very badly. You will then have to charge every 6 hours... do you want that?

NOO the only reasonable way is to buy new batteries. Then you are pretty sure, that they will last according to the phone manual.

I don't think it's the battery. It beeps and this is usually not the case, if the battery is dead.

this is another possibility, as BUG reports.

You should try first if the battery was the cause, then hardware is not good... you then probably will have to report a ebay hardware fraud...

I had the same problem a few month ago. The shop where I sent it back was nota able to repair it (they told me that they also sent it to the service but I don't believe it 'cos it is a prototype one) So they sent it back not repaired. And I repaired it with my FUBU. So I think is 's a kind of software bug. Maybe the eeprom or the bootcore, 'cos the service update didn't helped before. Just the FUBU.

There are several reasons for that. Firmware problems, EEPROM problems and file system problems. But it could be a broken ball under the flash chip, too.

Well as I thought the battery is not the problem, I just measured the voltage 4,2 Volts, even .5 volts higher that 3.7 written in the battery.

The only explanation is a software bug, this phone is so buggy, that I can just compare it to my K700i sony-e. piece of crap.

Well I will call tomorrow benq-siemmens, and they are the one supposed to fix it, at least that is what got from e-bay shop.

I know that they are supposed to be out of bussiness, but will see,

I'll keep you guys post lol ;)
