I've had the CX65 for a couple of months now, and what bothered me was the ugly looking joystick (in certain models, you can see the metal underneath), and the fact that I used to get dust under the screen all the time! I found solutions for both problems. All you need is a mousepad that has a soft black layer on the bottom. Not a layer that feels like rubber (cause some mousepads have those), but really a soft "cushion-like" layer. I hope you know what I mean! Anyway, if you have a mousepad like that, and you don't mind cutting it up, you can do the following:
1) For the joystick: you cut a very thin slice out of the layer, for instance a square of 2 by 2 centimeters. You'll need a very sharp stanley-knife for this. And even then, this might take some time, cause the slice has to be very thin (about 1 millimeter)! When you have succeeded, you cut a circle out of this square with scissors. The circle has to be about 1 cm in diameter. Next, you make a round hole in the middle of the circle, by using a perforator (used to make holes in paper). This hole will fit perfectly around the joystick! OK, so now you have a flat circle with a hole in the middle (looks like a donut). The only thing left to do now: take the cover AND keypad off your CX65. Place the "donut" over the joystick (the hole should fit perfectly around it). Put the keypad over the circle, put the cover back on, and there you go! Instead of the metal, you now see a nice black cushion around the joystick! And because the material is so soft, the joystick moves perfectly!
My CX65 looks much better now, and people who don't know it, don't even see that I did anything to it!
2) For the dust: I discovered that all dust under the screen originates from the keypad and joystick (this moves up to the screen!). So you need something that acts as a barrier between the keypad/joystick and the screen. What you do: you cut a small strip out of the layer of the mousepad. The width has to be about the same as the width of the screen (a little bit bigger). The height should be about 1 to 2 millimeters. Now, you open the cover of the CX65, you put the CX65 flat on its back, and you place the strip between the keypad and the screen. Just lay it on there. Next, you put the cover back on. Make sure the strip remains in the same place. When you press on the cover, the strip will be pressed down by it, and it will remain in the same place (so you don't have to glue it on!). There you go! The strip will hold back the dust so it can't reach the screen.
I have implemented this solution a couple of weeks ago, and since then, I've had absolutely no dust under the screen (before, dust gathered under the screen every day)!
For those who try these custom-made solutions: good luck and be patient! It might take some work, but it's worth it!
