Unlock the other parts (config and chache) of your cell with the OD-tool and delete or modify the volume of 'CameraClickMelody.wav'.

Just to resume how can shutter sound be removed in FW12.
1. Install the OD tool http://wert.warezbg.com/Siemens%20CX65/PC%20Software%20inst/od.rar
2. Use it to open the hidden directories (config and chache)
3. Use any PC-phone explorer (MPM, DES, SiMoCo) to delete or modify the volume of 'CameraClickMelody.wav'.
4. Enjoy silent shooting
PS: Sorry, BlueEye, for the copy and paste operations over your post. I just wanted to summarise the information

Ok here how to disable camera sound after updating to fw 12
1. download od tool http://download.siemens-club.ru/files/x65/od.rar
2. unzip od tool to your hard disk
3. connect phone with pc
4. start od tool set your com port
5. click on do it
6. you get a message window DONE! Click ok
now you have acess to two additional folder in your flexmem config and cache
if you want to change something in your phone and you have shut down your phone you have to start od tool once again.
So now how to disable camera sound
Browse your flexmem
YOU HAVE TO ENABLE IN THE WINDOWS EXPLORER EXTRAS->FOLDER OPTIONS->VIEW->SHOW ALL FILES AND FOLDERS
7. got to the folder Config/Default there you find the CameraClickMelody.wav
8. delete or rename this file and the camera sound is gone or you can even replace it with another sound if you want to

Should I use a SERIAL cable (e.g. DCA-500) to do that or can I do it with the DCA-540 USB cable I own?
Thanks for reply.
BlueEye

Does anyone know how to to this with IrDA?
Seem to me that OD doesn't work with IrDA.

I think you can do the firmware upgrade only with the DCA-500 cable or DCA-510 or similar....

Using MPM that came with the S65

with mpm installed, there should be a phone explorer on your desktop. click on that after you get "done" with the od tool... as soon as the telephone is recognized, config and cache should be shown in phone explorer, along with data...

Tried this with two different computers to see if it was a hardware issue, but still only see \Data and \MMCard folders within phone explorer

try each of the following:
--- a reboot of the phone
--- a change in the baud rate to 38400
--- use of a laptop (or another computer)
... that's what the s65 users at club-siemens said worked for them when they experienced the same thing you described.
good luck.
btw, you can try to post at the s65 english forum section, you might get lucky

Can somebody tell me how it is possible to use OD tool with an USB data cable? In the program i only have two functions which is COM1 and COM2. Can anybody tell me how i can use the program with an USB data cable?

you need a USB-Cable which simulates the COM-Port. The Original DCA-500 or DCA-510 does this. If you have a DCA-540 the OD-Tool won't work, because it's only a USB- Cable witout a COM-Port
Pioneer

But if you install the "USB-to-Serial Comm Port"-Driver and then use the DCA-540, OD-Tool will work ^^
Edit: this driver you can get from here (http://www.ksl.mediendesign.eduhi.at/2001/radner/USB-to-Serial.zip)

nein das update funktioniert leider nicht mit dem 540er
und auf englisch: no, the update doesn´t work with the DCA-540 ;o)

I've the same problem, I use an unofficial USB-to-Serial cable, I've update firmware without problems and I can connect with phone using MPM.
When I launch OD-Tools (v.0.2) the program says "Done!" but in Phone Explorer I don't see the "Config" or "Cache" directories.
The settings in Explorer are ok but in the browser I only see an hidden directory called "System", no "Config" or "Cache".
Ideas? :-s

The directories "Cache" and "Config" are on the same level as "Data". The directory "System" is a lower directory in "Data".
Use OD Tool with your mobile connected but before starting PhoneExplorer.

Thx for your answer,
I try your suggest without success.
I launch Od-tools -> "Done!" :D
Then I start MPM -> Phone Explorer -> I see directory called "Data" but no hidden directories at "Data" level. :(

There's another strange thing:
If I don't use Od-tools before MPM I'm not able to connect to the mobile.
MPM works only after Od-tools but in Phone Explorer I dont see "Config" or "Cache" dir.
If I don't use Od-tools, MPM never detects the phone.
My firmware is V12, I use WinXP with SP1 and a USB-to-Serial cable.

I had the same problem. I solved it by booting my PC with the CX65 connected (I use a DCA-510 cable). MPM detects the mobile after about 30 seconds.

maybe you should try this:
i'm using infrared for ODtool and it working fine.
and
i'm using Siemens Data Exchange Software 2.6.7, not MPM.

Maybe it was because your windows explorer still using default setting. Try to open windows explorer, go to tools --> folder options -->view, and make sure the "show hidden files and folders" selected....good luck!

Hi!
Now I have FW16. The method by oakdesign didn't worked at FW12 neither. When I open the phone with OD and click OK, I can't see any new folder by MPM, even so I allowed "show hidden files" in folder properties. The SiMoCo can't see the Config and Cache folder neither, but it can see a new folder, called System. But I can't disable the shutter sound in that folder.
What's wrong? I use DCA-510 cable and hungarian Pannon GSM phone.
Please help! Thnx
