I want the 30 seconds and the other things, so this Saturday I'll go and buy a serial cable and upgrade it anyway, hoping that a new firmware version will come out soon.

My personal opinion is that FW12 is better than FW08, because of the camera and speed and stability.But if I had to point out bugs this may be:
- birthdays alarm not remembered
- time zone not remembered

No, not the date and time but you have an option to look at the time at different time zones (other than yours) that is what I mean.

Ah, ok.

Sometimes with fw 02 my cell hangs, even before shutting down it remains with the white screen for a long time, I had to take out and reinsert battery.
It even hangs when it's turned on and the keyboard doesn't respond anymore...

I hope they have fixed this with FW 12.

FW12 is much much better and stable than FW02. I strongly advise you to update your FW (you may go to a service center but before that ask if your data will be preserved, because they may update your FFS which will delete all your data)

I'm going to buy a serial cable saturday (DCA-500) to do this (I have a DCA-540).

I hope my themes won't be deleted. My contacts are on the SIM card, so I think no problem for those.
If I back up and restore after the upgrade, will it go back to FW 02?
Otherwise it's better to recopy my theme files later.

If you update only the firmware (FW) you will NOT loose any data except your bookmarks.Only when you format or update FFS (Flash File System) you will loose it.
So don't worry for your update :D
